lyrics

My dream started innocently enough
I was in a cafe being served a tall glass of
Room temperature red wine
The Burgundy spilling into my cup
Into my glass; swirling, air mixing
The waitress shoots me a smile
Her gaze holds mine
I can't look away
I find myself entranced
By her face, by the wine, by time

Still within my dream:
I am traversing a large, open
Arid emptiness
Nothing but caked and baked soil
Miles around me
The earth crackled, the sun withering
Everything it touches

As I walk, my feet break
The brittle crust of the earth
And I sink to my knees
The warm mud oozes up to my calves
Holds me fast
I cannot move, I can barely think
The sun drives me mad
On the horizon, I see her: the waitress

She is a demon
In the blink of an eye
She crosses vast
Space and time
She is instantly
In front of me
Still holding
Her ewer of wine

She reaches out, opens my jaw
With her clawed hand
And slowly begins pulling out
All of my teeth
One by one
I am helpless
I cannot move, cannot stop her
From removing my teeth

When she has removed the very last tooth
She smiles, her hand cupping my chin
Slowly lifts my face up to her

And she says: "Now. Now you are free
Now you are free from the shackles
Of the past, of time, of space

I wake with a cold sweat and I start

And I begin my day
